Pharmaceutical and manufacturing
The situation
A long established manufacturing organisation in need of relocation, which meant the loss of some of their employees. The company wished to provide as much support for their employees as possible and came to HCS for a professional outplacement programme.
Issues
- Large scale redundancy that needed to be handled professionally and sensitively
- Some employees had not conducted a job search in over 30 years
- Some staff did not have a wide range of professional, vocational or academic qualifications
- Individuals unsure of what to do next- whether to undergo a career change or further training
Programme
Working closely with the company, we developed a flexible action plan that was able to accommodate a range of potential situations and specifically designed to fulfil their requirements.
Support was tailor made to individual needs and included private one-on-one consultations designed to evaluate options and explore opportunities. Individuals were able to identify and build upon skills and positively look towards the future.
Group workshops on CV writing and interview skills were also held, providing an arena for practising and improving upon techniques, whilst receiving positive feedback.
Outcome
We were able to successfully meet our client’s objectives by providing professional support and training programmes for individuals to make quality decisions about their futures.
Financial services
The situation
The centralisation of a very large and successful financial service company meant the closure of a branch in Brentwood and the loss of some of their workforce.
Issues
- Staff were highly qualified– members of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales- and considering whether to specialise or undertake a complete career change
- Needed information on further training
Programme
HCS provided supportive, one-on-one consultations with individuals, which allowed them to first deal effectively with the period of uncertainty and then explore what they wanted to do next. Consultants also outlined the different avenues for further training leaving individuals with a greater sense of direction and a brighter outlook towards the future.
Outcome
Our ability to build genuine and worthwhile substantive relationships has meant we have received ongoing calls from individuals, telling us what they are doing now, whilst receiving excellent feedback on our service.
